Thursday July 29th 0202hrs: Early morning vehicle accident on Rt281 just south of the Rt30 interchange. Attack and Squad responded and arrived on scene to find a single vehicle involved and into a utility pole. 3 patients on scene with minor injuries. Somerset Ambulance from the Stoystown station and the Somerset station transported the injured to Somerset Hospital. Utility companies were notified about the pole. State Police investigated. 10-141
Tuesday July 27th 1840hrs: Station was dispatched for a working vehicle fire at the intersection of Lincoln Hwy (U.S. Rt30) and Whistler Rd (Rt403) in the bridge Construction zone. Assistant Chief Deaner arrived on scene and confirmed the working fire in a full sized van that was towing a livestock trailer, however it was full of Cantaloupes not livestock. Engine 1 responded and arrived on scene and the crew pulled a 1 3/4" hand line and went to work extinguishing the fire. Attack 604-2 arrived on scene for support. No injuries. State Police investigated. Somerset Ambulance Stoystown station also assisted on scene with traffic control. Crews cleared and returned in service at 2006hrs.10-139
Thursday July 15th 2302hrs: Crews responded to a vehicle accident with unknown injuries near the intersection on Lincoln Hwy and Skunk Hollw Rd in Quemahoning Township. Units arrived on scene to find a vehicle/deer collision. There were no injuries except for the deer. Somerset Ambulance Stoystown station was also on scene. Friedens Fire was canceled. State Police investigated. 10-136
Saturday July 4th 1836hrs: Crews responded to a motorcycle accident with injuries along Whistler Rd (Rt403) just north of Kantner in Quemahoning Township. When they arrived they found one person, which was the driver, inujred and the motorcycle off the road and into the woods. Crews assisted Somerset Ambulance with the injured and also directed traffic around the accident scene. Additional pictures are available in our photo gallery. 10-134
Wednesday June 30th 0847hrs: Crews assisted the State Police with traffic control of a tractor trailer along E.Main St at S.Pine Ave in the borough. A tractor trailer coming off of U.S.Rt30 (Lincoln Hwy) made too sharp of a turn and got hung up on a bank causing the truck's drive wheels to be smashed down by the trailer. Herring Motor brought a large wrecker to lift the trailer off of the bank. The truck was hauling vehicle batteries. Crews remained on scene until 0957hrs. 10-132

Tuesday June 22nd 2307hrs: Attack 604-2 and Squad 604-4 responded to assist Hooversville with a vehicle accident with 2 injuries on Ridge Rd near Wilbur Rd in Shade Township. 10-129

Saturday June 19th 1456hrs: Assisted Shade Township with a structure fire along Bunker Hill Rd. Engine 604-1 responded and arrived on scene to find the fire, a shed and a nearby out building that had caught on fire, under control by the Shade Firefighters. Attack 604-2 was cancelled enroute. Engine crew assisted with overhaul then returned in service a short time later. Great job! 10-127

Friday June 18th 2246hrs: Stoystown VFC was dispatched mutual aid to assist Hooversville VFD with a vehicle accident with entrapment on Whistler Rd (Rt403) just south of Hooversville Borough in Shade Township at the Shade/Quemahoning Township line. Attack 604-2, Squad 604-4 and Engine 604-1 all responded from Stoystown. Attack 604-2 was the first Rescue vehicle that arrived on scene and confirmed one patient entrapped inside the vehicle. Attack's crew went to work to extricate the driver. Hooversville's Rescue then arrived on scene and assisted our crew. Squad 604-4 went on scene and dropped off personnel and then responded along with Engine 604-1 to the North Star Middle School in Kantner to set up a landing zone for Med Star 1. Somerset Ambulance Stoystown Station and medical personnel from Hooversville and our company had patient care. Med Star 1 landed safely on the football field and then patient was transferred from the medic unit to the crew on med Star 1. All units then went back in to service at 2357hrs. Great job done by all!! 10-126

1234hrs: Qrs call for chest pains at 206 Barta Rd. Boswell Ems and Conemaugh Twp Ems (Medic assist) responded in place of Somerset Ambulance Stoystown station. 10-121
Sunday May 30th 1944hrs: Crews responded to a 2 vehicle accident with injuries on Lincoln Hwy (U.S.Route30) in front of Castagnas Restaurant and Lounge. (the former Emerald Park) Attack 604-2 arrived on scene and confirmed two vehicles involved in a head on crash with 3 injuries. Squad 604-4 arrived and assisted Attack 604-2's crew and Medic 902 (Somerset Ambulance Stoystown station) with the female passenger of the pickup truck who was then flown by Med Star medical helicopter to Conemaugh Hospital in Johnstown. Hooversville and Somerset Ambulances transferred the other two injured person to Somerset and Conemaugh Hospitals. Hooversville Fire assisted on scene and Shade Township Fire Department had the landing zone for the helicopter and assisted with traffic control. State Police investigated. 10-118

Saturday May 22nd 0252hrs: An early morning vehicle accident with entrapment on U.S. Rt30 ( Lincoln Highway ) Stonbridge Hill area west of the Borough in Quemahoning Township. Attack and Squad crews responded and arrived on scene to find one vehicle involved. The vehicle appeard to have rolled over and was now sitting upright with one trapped inside. Crews immediatly went to work to extricate the loan male driver. Somerset Ambulance Stoystown station along with assistance from Boswell Ambulance took the patient care. A medical helicopter landing zone was set up by Friedens Fire Company along Goldsmith Road however, the patient was transported by ground to Conemaugh Hospital in Johnstown. Boswell Fire Department also assisted on scene. State Police are investigating. 10-115

WASHINGTON, DC-U.S. Senators Bob Casey (D-PA) and Arlen Specter (D-PA) today announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded $38,000.00 to the Stoystown Volunteer Fire Company in southwestern Pennsylvania.
“Firefighters are invaluable members of the community and they work tirelessly to ensure our safety. It is critical that we do everything in our power to provide them with the necessary tools and resources to perform their jobs,” said Senator Casey. “This money will provide valuable assistance to the Stoystown Volunteer Fire Company of southwestern Pennsylvania.”
“These fire prevention and safety programs will help protect the citizens of Pennsylvania and the firefighters who risk their lives every day,” Senator Specter said. “I commend the Department of Homeland Security for recognizing this priority and for its continued support of our nation’s fire services.”
Federal funds are awarded through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program (AFG) which aims to strengthen the Nation’s first responders’ ability to protect the health and safety of the public as well the responders’ themselves. This is the 15th round of AFG grants for Fiscal Year 2009.

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Life Member and Honorary Captain Charles "Chuck" Deaner. Chuck, a 64-year member of the Stoystown Volunteer Fire Company and past president, the first captain and now an honorary captain has passed away at the age of 80. Chuck always had a smile and liked to tease everyone. Chuck will be greatly missed by everyone in the department. Fire Company members will gather at the Deaner Funeral Home in Stoystown on Sunday May 16th at 7pm to pay their respects. Chuck will be laid to rest on Tuesday May 18th at 11am. Our sincere condolences go out to the entire Deaner Family.
Thursday May 13th 0013hrs: Dispatched to assist Friedens with a smoke in a structure call at 1841 Stoystown Rd Shaffer's Country Side Personal Care Home. Engine 604-1 responded and was staged at the elementary school. Friedens advised of some smoke inside and the residences were starting to evacuate. The Engine was later released and returned in service at 0028hrs. 10-107

1452hrs, Attack 604-2 responded to yet another tree down blocking the eastbound lane of US Rt30 (Lincoln Hwy) just above the new entrance to the Flight 93 National Memorial. 10-106
Sunday May 2nd 2133hrs: Dispatched to assist Friedens with a vehicle accident on Stern St in Friedens. Attack 604-2 and Squad 604-4 both responded but were not needed on scene and was cancelled. 10-098
